Uriel Menalled is an agroecologist based in Central New York who loves photography and nearly any excuse to spend time outside. His attraction to photography comes from its ability to capture extraordinary moments in ordinary settings. In this way, photography serves as a reminder of the beauty surrounding us.

Artist’s Note: Amidst a warehouse of second-hand home furnishings, someone had arranged a seemingly out-of-place statue. I’m not very spiritual, and perhaps you, the viewer, also have a tumultuous relationship with spirituality. Regardless, I hope “Thrift Store Jesus” serves as a reminder to look past the mundanity of consumerism in search of a deeper connection.
